Shimmy Mob is an annual "flash mob" event, creating awareness of emotional abuse and domestic violence. Originating in 2011, Shimmy Mob's main event takes place on World Belly Dance Day, the second Saturday in May. This year Shimmy Mob teams danced in 149 cities, in 7 countries on 3 continents! Team Willimantic returned in 2024 for it's second year and is the only team representing CT! We partnered with United Services Domestic Violence Program, the only domestic violence shelters and services in Northeastern Connecticut. United Services Domestic Violence Program offers a wide array of services designed to respond to the needs of domestic violence victims and their children throughout their journey to become free of abuse.
